CEOs of Applied Systems, ASCnet Among Most Powerful in Insurance

University Park, Illinois – February 26, 2010 - Applied Systems Chairman and CEO James P. Kellner again appears on the annual list of North America’s most powerful insurance people, and he is joined for the first time by Rick J. Morgan, interim CEO of the Applied Systems Client Network (ASCnet).

For the seventh consecutive year, Kellner is on the list of the 100 Most Powerful People in the Insurance Industry in North America, identified by media organization Insurance Broadcasting and the Insurance Media Association. Sponsors of the 2009 list call the group “an insurance industry dream team” of individuals who control or have the greatest influence on people, capital, intellectual knowledge, technology and other industry resources.

Kellner, who has made the list every year since its inception, is the only person named from an insurance technology company. Applied Systems has developed a loyal customer base over nearly three decades of building agency management technology used by insurance agents, brokers and carriers throughout North America. In addition, Applied Systems is recognized as an advocate for independent agents, a partner to other industry organizations and a pioneer in creating innovative technology for industry advancement.

“My name appears on the list because of the hard work and dedication of our Applied Systems team, our agents and brokers, and all of our partners,” Kellner said. “The real credit goes to the team effort put forth daily to collaboratively influence and advance the insurance industry.”

Morgan is an insurance industry veteran serving as interim leader of ASCnet, the international association of agents and brokers who use Applied Systems technology. He brings extensive experience as an independent agency owner, author, adviser and strategist to the leadership of ASCnet, the largest independent user group of insurance technology. Morgan also serves as chair of the Agents Council for Technology (ACT) Web 2.0 workgroup of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America.

“Having the leaders of both Applied Systems and ASCnet staff included on this list speaks to the overall leadership Applied Systems and its clients provide to the industry at large,” Morgan said.

Others named to the “100 Most Powerful” list in the Insurance Technology category represent authoritative industry organizations: Gregory A. Maciag, president and CEO, ACORD; Clare DeNicola, president and CEO, IVANS; Mary Roth, executive director, Risk and Insurance Management Society; and Jeff Yates, executive director, ACT.
