Applied Systems wins top honor from insurance standards body

Doug Johnston of Applied Systems, center, accepts the 2011 ACORD Download Vendor of the Year Award from John Leonard, left, ACORD chairman of the board; and Gregory A. Maciag, ACORD president and CEO.

University Park, Ill. – November 17, 2011 - For the 18th consecutive year, insurance software company Applied Systems earned a top insurance industry honor signifying that agents and carriers deliver more electronic data through Applied Systems software than through any other agency management software.

Applied Systems was named 2011 Download Vendor of the Year by ACORD (Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development), the organization that establishes and enforces data standards for the U.S. insurance industry. ACORD documented more than 131,000 agency/carrier pairs transmitting insurance transaction information through Applied Systems software in 2010, far surpassing the transactions documented for any other vendor. Every year since 1993, Applied Systems is the only insurance software provider to be recognized as Download Vendor of the Year by ACORD.

"I congratulate Applied Systems for these achievements and for winning six 2011 ACORD awards," said Lloyd Chumbley, vice president of Standards for ACORD. "I also applaud Applied for continued leadership in ACORD data standard implementations. We're glad to recognize that year after year, Applied Systems demonstrates the importance and value of ACORD standards to the insurance industry."

In addition to the award for Download Vendor of the Year, Applied Systems also received these awards, presented at a ceremony last week during the 2011 ACORD Implementation Forum at Harbor Beach Marriott Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.:

  • Most Compelling Case Study, for "Real-Time Rating: The Most Powerful Change Carriers are Making to Help Agents Market, Quote and Write New Business," demonstrating and recognizing the significant impact of ACORD standards.
  • AUGIE Commercial Lines Download, for implementing this download based on ACORD standards to streamline workflows and improve data quality.
  • Property & Casualty Round Trip of Data, for automating the lifecycle of data using ACORD standards and forms, based on encouraging agents to use ACORD forms, real-time rating/submission, policy download and endorsement processing.
  • Property & Casualty Most Actively Involved with ACORD, recognizing support or ACORD in numerous ways, including participating in forums and working groups, implementing and having current certifications of standards, and voting on standards.
  • Early Adopter – Forms, for using current standardized forms, defining relevant business processes and demonstrating that the form is in production with an insurer.

"We're honored to once again be recognized by ACORD for our company's long and unwavering commitment," said Doug Johnston, Applied Systems vice president of Partner Relations & Product Innovation. "We continue working to deliver the industry's most technologically advanced agency management software and carrier interface to maximize the value of what agents and carriers do every day."
